Witching on a Star is a witches and wizard’s suspense, mystery. It is also the fourth book in Amanda Lee’s Wicked Witches of the Midwest Mystery series.
While you certainly do not need to read the first three books in order to enjoy or follow Witching on a Star, reading them will certainly help put you in the right mood to enjoy more antics from the wonderful witch trio of Bay, Clove and Thistle Winchester and, their crazy Great Aunt Tillie.
When spring comes to Hemlock Cove, the Winchester family decides to distract Aunt Tillie by building her a greenhouse. And, who better than Bay, to put in charge of the project.
As the project goes from plan to reality, Bay spots a young girl standing at the edge of the woods. A young girl who, is in fact, a ghost; a ghost who desperately wants Bay to help her find her mother.
In between trying to figure out where the girl came from and being cursed by Aunt Tillie when she doesn’t agree with the way Bay is running the project, Bay’s boss at the Whistler, decides to bring in a consultant to help boost ads and circulation in order to print the paper three times a week, instead of weekly.
Adding to her pile of woes, is her father and uncles, who are getting ready to open their own inn that will compete with the Overlook, run by her mother and two aunts.
In the midst of all this, is her budding relationship with her FBI boyfriend, Landon. Landon who is desperately trying to understand witchcraft and, three witch cousins, one of whom he is madly in love with: Three divorced witch moms who are not very fond of men in general. A very powerful and devious, great aunt witch, named Tillie who, loves to curse those who dare challenge her. And finally, a sheriff who is overly protective of Landon’s girlfriend, Bay.
Add a ghost that wants to find her mother and you have the makings of a pretty standard week in the life of the Winchester Coven and an FBI agent who no longer questions witchcraft and is just along for the ride.
If you like craziness, snarky comments, a lot of chuckles …. oh, and a mystery thrown in for good measure …. this book (and the series) is for you. I can’t wait for book 5!
