Sally Spitz is a 17-year-old dork who is deeply entrenched in Harry Potter, Star Wars and other current science fiction. She is also the worlds worse date since she really has no interest in boys or dating.
Enter her best friend Hooker who, along with Sally’s mom, is bound and determined to connect her up with someone. Actually, anyone; male or female.
To get Hooker and her mom off her back, Sally turns to Becks, her best friend since they were seven. In short order, she promises him she’ll do his homework if he will pretend to be her fake boyfriend (aka FBF) for a month. Turning this to his advantage, Becks also convinces Sally that he needs to give her “lessons” in how to be a girlfriend so everyone will believe their sudden desire to be more than friends.
Soon however, their plan starts to go awry as they both realize they actually have been in love with each other since they were seven. Only neither one knows how to tell the other for fear it will end their friendship.
While that’s all I’ll tell you, I think figuring out where things go from there is pretty much a “No Brainer”.
Adorkable is a cute, easy read that is pretty predictable. Its characters are also a little hard to believe at times and you’ll find yourself saying; “no one can be that blind to their feelings”. There are also several places where the story simply drags on with very predictable twists and turns.
While Adorkable is certainly not a brain teaser, I found it to be an enjoyable, funny, easy read.
